Scott Gamec

Obituary of Scott F. Gamec

Scott Faust Gamec

January 7, 1950 - January 21, 2024

Scott was born to John and Kathryn Gamec and raised in the Minneapolis, MN area. Scott met his wife of 51 years, Debbie, at North Hennepin Community College where he was studying architecture in Osseo, MN.  His hobby at the time was racing F stock cars throughout the Minneapolis area.  Shortly after marrying Debbie, he sold his race car and they moved to Aurora, CO where he managed Koehnen’s Standard Oil Station at Parker Rd & Peoria where I-225 ended.  In 1976, Scott and Debbie moved to Franktown, CO.  He worked at the original Parker Automotive and then traveled throughout the midwest erecting center-pivot irrigation systems.  Scott was owner/manager at Gas Man and built Elbert Country Store in Elbert, CO.  He maintained and operated heavy equipment for Hudick Excavating and finished his career at C&L Gas / Conoco in Franktown, CO.  He worked on cars for friends and family long into retirement. In his younger years, Scott volunteered for the Franktown and Elbert Fire Departments and was active on the Town of Elbert Water Board.

Scott was a talented carpenter and fabricator.  He spent his last few years restoring his 1972 K-5 Blazer.  One of his favorite jokes was that he had had the same wife, house and truck for 50 years. He was also a skilled lumberjack, plumber, electrician, gardener and home repairman.  He had an uncanny ability to see how things fit together and he had a lifelong love of reading and learning. Scott was always happy to lend a helping hand and made his time, knowledge and tools available.

Scott valued his family above all else.  He worked to ensure that his children and grandchildren would be well educated and have many differing life experiences. He encouraged them all to follow their dreams.

Scott is survived by his wife: Debbie; children: Laura and Julie; grandchildren: Mary and Ellie; brothers: Jed (Mary), Bill and Chris; uncle: Connrad (Norma); in-laws: Wally (Jorgette) and Mary (Tim); nieces, nephews and many friends whom he loved and cherished.
