Obituary of Diana Leigh Swenson
Diana Swenson gained her angel wings on October 18th after an incredibly courageous battle with cancer. She fought hard to stay with her loved ones until the very end. She was 71 years young and will be deeply missed. To know Diana was to love her.
She was born to John and Marjorie Day in Oak Park, IL on September 28, 1951. Diana met Chip Swenson in 9th grade at a dance held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. They grew closer through high school and were married right after graduation in 1969. Over the course of 53 years, they grew a beautiful and loving family, inclusive of two children and four grandchildren.
She was an incredible friend, daughter, sister, wife, mother and “gamma.” She was always willing to help and support her family and would continually go the extra mile to make all things unique and special, including holidays and celebrating life milestones. Her grandchildren were her world and she wrapped them in an incredible amount of love, generosity and all things Disney!
In her early days she worked as a unit clerk at Swedish American hospital, and later an office manager for a group of psychiatrists and social workers. She finished her career as a local travel agent which fueled her love of travel. Her true career and calling was to grow and care for her family.
Diana was happiest walking the beach and would spend hours looking for the perfect shell. She absolutely loved experiencing beautiful sunsets with family and friends. The love of the sand in her toes, the sun on her face and the harmony of the ocean waves lives on in the hearts of her children and her grandchildren. She always enjoyed planning the next family trip and each one always had a fun theme. Please look for her in the next sunset and raise a glass to a beautiful woman inside and out.
Diana and Chip moved from the Midwest to the great west of Colorado where she spent her final years taking in the crisp mountain air, the majestic scenery and fantastic family mountain adventures.
She is survived by Chip Swenson, her loving husband of 53 years; her children Ryan (Kathy) Swenson, Jodi (Curt) Klus; her grandchildren Ali Swenson, Leah Swenson, Jackson Klus and Katelyn Klus; her sisters Jaymee Robinson and Kim Bojarski and many extended family members and friends. Diana is preceded in death by her parents John Day and Marjorie Williams.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Joy Lutheran Church, 7051 Parker Hills Court, Parker, CO 80138 on Thursday, November 3, 2022 with a visitation at 10AM and service starting at 11AM MT.
