Obituary of John L. Rommel
John L. Rommel, Jr., was born in Louisville, Kentucky on August 30, 1919 at Norton Hospital. He moved to Venice, Florida in 1972, Arizona in 1998, and Colorado in 2010. He was a First Leiutenant in the U.S. Army Ordnance Department during WWII, serving in Canada, New Guinea, Halamaharas and the Phillipines.
John was an Officer in the George H. Rommel Construction Company for thirty years and a Project Engineer for the K.A. Barker Company in Louisville for five years.
A Member of Mission Valley Country Club and Venice Yacht Club while in Florida, and a volunteer at the Bon Secours Venice Hospital for ten years accumulating 8,000 hours of volunteer service. John was a member of Valley Presbyterian Church in Green Valley, Arizona.
John is survived by his wife, Sherrill W. Rommel, two daughters, Susan Niedert of Parker and Mary DeSmidt of Santa Barbara, California, seven grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
