Obituary of DeWayne Curtis O'Dell

DeWayne Curtis O'Dell, 40, of Parker, CO, courageously fought and lost his battle with kidney cancer on October 10, 2011, at 10:25 a.m. DeWayne was born September 26, 1971 to Leota (Sam) and William O'Dell in Poplar Bluff, MO. He was raised in the Pittsburg area, attending Pittsburg schools, and graduating from Pittsburg High School in 1989, where he was a member of the wrestling team. He married April Ewan on November 21, 1998 in Pittsburg, KS. She survives of the home. DeWayne worked for Cross Midwest Tire in Pittsburg, until moving to Colorado in 2004. He was currently working for A & E Tire in Denver, CO. He was a member of Red Rocks Baptist Church, Morrison, CO. DeWayne had a passion for life and an unbendable faith. He loved spending time with his family, especially his children, golfing, and hunting. There wasn't a K-State game left unwatched, and he never met a stranger. Even though DeWayne was only here for a short time, his left a huge impact on the lives he touched. DeWayne is survived by his wife of the home, his children Austin and Ashlynn, both of the home, his parents, Bill and Sam Schropp, his brothers, Broc, Brett, Craig, and Eric, and many extended family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday October 13, 2011, from 6-8 pm at Ponderosa Valley Funeral Services, Parker, CO. Services will be Friday October 14, 2011 at 11:00 am at Red Rocks Baptist Church, 14711 W. Morrison Road, Morrison, CO. Burial will be in Girard, KS, Monday October 17, 2011 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the DeWayne O'Dell Cancer Fund, First Bank of Denver or University Bank of Arma, KS. The memorials will be used for the education of his children.
