Sophie Fracasso

Obituary of Sophie Fracasso

Sophie Fracasso, 94, passed away quietly at her home in Parker, Colorado on March 30, 2013, where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law since 2004. Sophie was in failing health toward the end and found loving support from family and from in-home care provided by Legacy Hospice; her nurse, Lenny Cook and health aide Elisha Anderson. Sophie was born in Winnepeg, Canada, where her family lived briefly while emigrating from Austria to the United States. Sophie grew up in Chicago, Illinois, then married and raised her own family in Brookfield, Illinois. Sophie was the mother of two children: son, Peter and daughter, Patricia. Sophie worked as a bank clerk for much of her life; initially at the Federal Reserve Bank in Chicago and later at the First National Bank of Brookfield, Illinois until retiring at age 82. In retirement Sophie split her time between her son's family in Illinois and daughter in Colorado. Sophie was known for her warm and positive persona at home and at work. Family and friends found her a continuing source of support and a model of compassion to aspire toward in their own lives. Sophie was preceded in death by: her parents, Nick Jurecki and Mary (Baran); husband, Peter Anthony Fracasso, who passed in 1983; son Peter Fracasso, who passed in 2004; and sister Olga Stermer, who passed in 2004. She is survived by her daughter Patricia (Thomas) Lemke and daughter-in-law Marilyn Fracasso. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren: Wendy (Bruce) Moorehart, parents of Benjamin and Brandon Moorehart; Victoria (Gary) Langosch, parents of Gerald and Justin Langosch; Nick (LeaAnn) Fracasso, parents of Pete Fracasso; and Joseph Fracasso. Memorial arrangements are pending. Cremated remains will be interned in a family plot at St Nicholas Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois. Service Information
