Obituary of Hilbert Schauer

After a lifetime of service to God, country and the State of Colorado, Hilbert (Judge) Schauer died July 12, 2015. Born April 2, 1920 in Underwood, N.D., to Philip and Matilda (Schimke) Schauer, he grew up on a farm in Greely County, Kansas and entered the U.S. Army in WWII rising from the rank of Private to 1st Lt. He married Jimmie Ruth Conner August 27, 1947, his wife of over 58 years. In his lifetime, he acquired an LLB Degree from the University of Denver Law School and served as Municipal Judge, Deputy D.A., District Judge, State Supreme Court Justice and first Director of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Director of the Colorado Department of Institutions and U. S. Magistrate. Hilbert was always involved in charitable organizations serving as an active board member for the VOA, Laradon Hall, Excelsor Girls School, Skycliff Stroke Center and Parker Breakfast Club. Hilbert was dedicated to the Lutheran Church and was instrumental in the creation of mission churches in Ft. Morgan, Parker and Castle Rock and served as Congregational President at numerous churches through the years. The last four decades of his life he resided on his property East of Parker and in his spare time raised a herd of beautiful Arabian horses. Hilbert is survived by his son, Stephen (Cheryl) Schauer of Parker, CO and daughter, Susan Schauer of Wimberley, TX, grandchildren, Joshua (Tracie) Schauer and Sara (Shawn) Ramsey , all of Parker, CO and Jonathan Schauer of Aurora, CO, great-grandchildren, Cody, Ty, Jacob, Mia and Aaliyah Schauer, Caleb, Elijah and Jadon Ramsey. Hilbert was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Jimmie Ruth (Conner) Schauer. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2015, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 11249 Newlin Gulch Blvd in Parker. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 20, 2015, 11:00 a.m. also at Grace Lutheran Church. Final Resting Place will be Parker Cemetery.
